Lancaster Instructors – Woodwind & Brass Instruments

The following is a list of our current woodwind and brass instrument teachers at our Lancaster location.

Dr. Gary Troxell

  • Doctorate of Education and Master of Education from Widener University
  • Master of Education from Kutztown University, and Bachelor of Music Education from Messiah College
  • Clarinetist in a variety of regional ensembles including the Allegro Chamber Orchestra, and Franklin & Marshall Symphonic Wind Ensemble
  • Retired public school music teacher with extensive teaching and private teaching experience
  • Instruments Taught: Clarinet, Saxophone, Flute

Steve Carter

  • Bachelor of Music and Performer’s Certificate from the Crane School of Music at SUNY Potsdam
  • 40+ years of private teaching experience
  • Instruments Taught: Flute, Clarinet, Saxophone, Trumpet
  • Minimum Age Required: 9+

Michael Eckersley

  • Pursuing a dual degree in Trumpet Performance and Music Education
  • Lead trumpet in the Cadet’s Drum and Bugle Core, and Assistant Coach for the Spring Garden Highschool Marching Band
  • Instruments Taught: Trumpet, Trombone, Euphonium, and Tuba
  • Minimum Age Required: 9+

John Scanlon

  • BS in Music Education, Kutztown University
  • Brass lessons focus on ear training, tone development, technique and theory.
  •  Instruments Taught: Trumpet, Trombone, French horn, Baritone, Tuba
  •  Minimum Age Required: 8+

Jacob Connelly

  • BA in Music Education, Millersville University
  • Instruments Taught: Trumpet, Beginning Guitar
  • Minimum Age Required: 9+
